This room
had only a narrow walkway because of all
the clutter |

Clearing
out the clutter and rearranging the
furniture made this into a cozy den
instead of a dumping ground |
|

This
living room had family photos, photo
albums and random furniture in the room |

Clearing
out the personal items and rearranging
the furniture gives better traffic flow
to the hallway on the right |
|

This
master bedroom was cluttered with
unnecessary items |

Clearing
the clutter, opening the drapes and
making the bed made a big difference |
|

An empty
butler's pantry is cold and void |

Adding
greenery, food, wine and glasses makes
the home look ready for entertaining |
|

A plain
hearth is stark and uninviting |

Adding
some decorative touches gives it a homey
feel in an otherwise empty room |

The above
home sold in a tight market four months
after staging. |

A typical
teenager's room with lots of clutter |

Clutter
cleared, extra furniture gone, and
colorful bedding make this
room more inviting |
|

The same
room--the first impression from the
doorway |

This room
is more inviting with the clutter
cleared, furniture rearranged and blinds open |
|

Half
storage, half bedroom, this room needed
help! |

Clutter
cleared and furniture rearranged, this
now looks and feels like a bedroom |
|

This dark
and dreary living room is hardly
inviting as the main room of the house |

Decorative
items and a smaller table make the space
look large and more peaceful |
|

An
outdated marble top, several layers of
paint on a 35-yr-old vanity, and pink
walls make this main bathroom a turn-off
for most. |

This same
space with updated vanity, medicine
cabinet and granite countertop bring
this room into the next century. |
|

It's only
a laundry room, but it's the view from
the front door as you come down the
stairs of this raised ranch. |

A new
floor, and new cabinets from
Closet Organizing Systems,
makes this a brighter space. |

INTERIOR STAGING |
|

This
combined living room/dining room had no
separation. By angling the sofas, we
created a separate conversation area
from the eating area. |

This is
the same room. The angled sofas welcome
guests, and provide a nice view out the
window to the left. This was all done
with what the client already owned. |
|

Even empty
homes can be made welcoming with just s
few pieces of strategically placed
furniture. This dining room is set
with colorful dishes to offset the plain
walls. |

Small
vignettes such as the above reading area
in an empty master bedroom define the
space and make the area inviting. |

House is
lost behind weeds, untrimmed bushes and
overgrown trees |

Weeds have
overtaken garden and paint is fading and
chipped |

Trimming
the bushes and trees gives a better view
of the house from the street

A new
paint job and new shutters in a
contrasting color give this house a new
life and new look |

Clothes
clutter the floor and items are just
thrown on shelves |

Hanging or
folding clothes and straightening items
after purging cleans up the space and
makes room for more |
|

Items
thrown on shelves make it difficult to
find anything |

Purging
and sorting frees up space and makes it
easy to find that special purse |
|

Again,
poor use of shelves makes it difficult
to find anything |

Purging
and folding makes the whole area look
nicer, and sorting clothes by type makes
it easy to get dressed in the morning |

Papers and
toys clutter this home office.
There is little productive work area.
|

Getting
rid of unnecessary papers and children's
toys gave this home office back to the
client. |
|

This same
office has plenty of potential, but it's
hidden by unsightly stacks of paper and
supplies.
|

Moving all
the supplies to the bookcase and
clearing the desk surfaces creates a
more usable space. |
|

The view
into this office from the doorway is
hardly inviting |

Clearing
the clutter and rearranging furniture
makes this space more appealing
(See
another view below) |
|

Little
work can get done on this desk because
of clutter and boxes |

This space
is now an inviting work area for the
client |
|

Bookshelves are overstuffed, while the
closet shelf holds nothing |

Adding an
extra shelf in the closet gave the
client space for office supplies and
less-used items |

Linen
Closet Re-do
Customer
had an odd-shaped linen closet stuffed
with packing boxes after a recent move.
Items were randomly thrown into boxes,
making it difficult to find anything.
Boxes were too large for the space.

Display
makes a big difference when people are
looking at your items. Sort by
category and try to keep everything
visible. Don't pile up too much or
you may lose a sale because they
couldn't see something at the bottom of
the stack. |

By laying
out shoes, customers can see at a glance
both size and style. Pricing all
shoes the same makes it easier to handle
transactions. Also, display
clothing on hangers if possible so
customers can look through easily.
Hang signs with prices at various places
so customers won't have to ask
questions. |
|

This
homeowner had lots of books.
Placing them in boxes spine up, and
grouping by kids and adults amde them
easy to look through. |

Toys and
games line the opposite side of the
driveway. Keep toys within reach
if children so they can see what you
have and try to convince their parents
to buy it! |
|

The
morning of the first day--have
everything set up as much as possible
because people usually start wandering
in as your are setting up. If you
have a long driveway, try to set up near
the end so people driving by can see
your items better. The only risk
with this is the weather!
